The Standard Bank Group Limited ("Standard Bank") and Dundas Ünlü Menkul Değerler A.Ş ("Dundas Ünlü") have joined forces - an agreement whereby Standard Bank has acquired a majority shareholding of 67% in Dundas Ünlü. The new partnership is named Standard Ünlü.
Standard Bank is South Africa's leading banking group, with a global investment banking franchise in emerging markets and natural resources. It has been present in Turkey since 1999, first via the Representative Office of its London-based bank, Standard Bank Plc. Standard Bank built its initial reputation in Turkey through close business relationships with financial institutions, and since then has become more active with Turkish corporates in cross-border transactions. More recently in 2002 Standard Bank bought a broker-dealer which has been dealing primarily in debt securities for Standard Bank Plc and its clients.
Dundas Ünlü was founded in 1996 and has developed a client-focused business based initially on corporate finance, and now including fixed income, equities and fund management. Dundas Ünlü is a market leader in the areas of M&A advisory, tender offers, distressed debt management and private equity management.
This partnership brings together the domestic expertise and capabilities of the Dundas Ünlü team with the international skills and capital resources of Standard Bank. Through Standard Ünlü, Standard Bank will substantially develop its business in Turkey through supplementing its existing business with further investment banking services.
